YC wins Apples in Education Award

Every year Think Ahead hosts a nationwide competition which encourages teachers and students of all grades to submit an entry in a category.

This year Yeshiva College learners Liat Shear and Amber Kopelowitz won first prize in The Apple In Education Competition category ’Exploring the sciences in everyday life”. The learners created an engaging iMovie on the iPad using a variety of apps to create their entry on how to turn an orange into a candle to overcome the challenges of load shedding by recording step-by-step instructions with a scientific explanation as to how the orange candle works. Not only is this topical to what South Africans experience with the trials and tribulations of load shedding, with great editing skills and a sense of humour the girls produced a remarkable project.
